We are trustees of a long tradition which has sought to bring our religious convictions into the world 'and so to excite our endeavours to mend it'. We are trying to live in the virtue of that life and power that takes away the occasion of all wars. London Yearly Meeting, 1987 North Cumbria Area Quaker Meeting (formerly known as Carlisle & Holm Monthly Meeting) comprises four local Quaker Meetings - Alston, Carlisle, Mosedale and Penrith. If you need to contact us, then follow the Contacts link.Quakers do not have clergy - we appoint some of our members to be clerks (for business meetings), elders and overseers. The key to our worship is waiting on the Spirit in silence. The North Cumbria Area Meeting is a charity. At the moment we have what is called "excepted" status, but in due course we expect to become a registered charity.
